The Confluence (Castlegar Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center), is one of Canada’s first buildings to combine the technologies of Certified Passive House and Mass Timber, and builds on Lukas’ experience in creating cutting edge Passive House projects.

Lukas started this project over five years ago while a Partner at Cover Architectural Collaborative Inc. Lukas is now completing construction of the project as Stand Architecture Inc.

Located at the gateway to Castlegar, the project is an indication of the vitality of the City. The dynamic form of the building references the regional mountains and valleys, while the name references the point at which the Kootenay River flows into the Columbia River.

The Confluence Building  includes the Chamber of Commerce offices, the Visitors information Center and Gallery, a significant conference room, and an “incubator” space that offers office and hotdesk rentals.

The project was the recipient of significant grants through the CleanBC funding program, and a provincial Mass Timber funding program.
