Situated on the shores of Kootenay Lake, and with a southern exposure, this project lent itself well to being a Passive House. Although Certification wasn’t pursued, the house uses all of the strategies of Passive House in its design, including situating most of the windows to the South, controlling overheating with deep overhangs, using an R60 wall assembly and R100 roof assembly, and incorporating an HVAC system with an 80% efficient HRV.

The aesthetic of the building, and the quality of the interior design is a result of deep collaboration with the client. The result is a stunning example of modernist residential design at its best.
